For all types of detergents, such as liquid detergents, powder detergents, beads or gel tabs: The manufacturer's instructions are decisive for the dosage. You will find the values on the packaging of the respective detergent. According to dry cleaning pickup and delivery, these should always be adhered to and not proceed according to personal judgment. In many cases, you will find even more thorough information on dosage on the respective website of the manufacturer.
Detect detergent quantity and measure:
The usual form of the specification is a table. This usually refers to a normally loaded laundry drum with a dry load that weighs five kilograms.
By selecting the degree of soiling and hardness, you will receive a dosage value that is given in milliliters. To measure, a dosing aid is supplied with many detergents. In the case of liquid detergent, it is often the cap of the bottle. The manufacturers of powder detergents and pearls provide a handy plastic container in most cases. Gel tabs are only of limited use for the dosage since the tabs for increasing or decreasing the dosage depending on the amount must be broken.
Why a wrong detergent dosage is harmful?
Too little detergent: If the detergent is underdosed, the laundry remains dirty in the first place. In particular, coarse dirt does not disappear even after the wash. Especially white laundry will also gray over time, as the bleach contained in the heavy-duty detergent is too low.
The washing machine is also affected: as the detergent contains water softener, less calcium builds up when dosed correctly. If the medium is used too little, more lime will remain in the water. This leads to deposits in the machine and on the clothing. Both will be damaged over time.
Too much detergent: too much of a good thing is harmful. If more washing powder is used than necessary, not only the consumption of detergent increases.
It also forms more foam, which requires repeated rinsing and so drives the water consumption in the air. Also, often not all the detergent can be washed out again and it remains in the machine and on the clothes. Dry cleaning pickup and delivery service says that the former can damage and adhere to rubber and other delicate parts. The latter can lead to white spots or crumbs, especially on dark clothing. A problem especially for people with allergies: Detergent residues on clothing can irritate the skin.
