Water Well Drilling in British Columbia

October 16, 2019 by Garykehler

Water well drillingBritish Columbiauses a large piece of equipment, known as a proper drilling rig, to bore down into the earth to reach an aquifer or water source deep below the ground. A proper water well drillingBritish Columbia company may choose to use either a rotary driller, which bores into the earth using a specialised drill bit, known as a Tricone bit. The bit is attached to a hollow metal drill stem, which rotates allowing the bit to cut into the soil or bedrock. High-pressure air or drilling fluid is forced down the hollow drill stem to cool and lubricate the bit as well as stabilise the sound walls. There is also another drilling method which uses a substantial fluted bit, which is raised and dropped to punch a hole in the soil. Either of these methods is commonly used. Both have their pro’s and con’s however rotary drilling now dominates the industry as it is fast and can be used in many soil and bedrock conditions.
