Cloud9 & RedBox Deliver Voice Trading Compliance

Leading voice platform, Red Box, has recently expanded its voice capturing capabilities through a new integration with the Cloud9 cloud-based trader voice comms platform, C9 Trader. RedBox is a dedicated voice specialist that supports organisations in capturing and unlocking the value of enterprise-wide voice.

Cloud9 Technologies is a team of pioneers in trader communications technology dedicated to creating the "trading floor of the future." Cloud9 was also recently named by the FinTech 250, demonstrating the company's successful adoption by the voice trading industry.redbox phone recording

The partnership between the two companies will allow RedBox to offer Cloud9's C9 Trader desktop within its 4C release. The new solution also incorporates state-of-the-art integration with the latest tools for analytics and archiving in the market, helping businesses to audit and manage 100% of their calls so that they can unlock the most valuable insights available.Red Box isn't the only company that benefits from the new integration. Cloud9 will also be able to significantly enhance their archiving and call-recording functionalities for their customers. Cloud9 is already devoted to offering solutions that interoperate with significant systems within the trader workflow environment - supporting information generation and efficiency.

New regulations like MiFID II in Europe and Dodd-Frank in the US mean that today's investment firms must work hard to keep complete records of the trade-related communications that occur in their business. Built atop the extensive architecture of open APIs supported by Red Box, the new Cloud9 integration will extend the range of platforms that Red Box can integrate with and ensures that all records stay in the same place, making it easier to track trades.

In a press release regarding the new integration, the Chief Product Officer of Red Box, Pete Ellis noted that today's financial services companies need a reliable method to capture the communications that occur around a trade for compliance and regulatory purposes. As voice continues to be a crucial communication method in the trading environment, Red Box and Cloud9 are working together to ensure that it's possible for businesses to capture all of their information in the same place.

Cloud9 leaders announced that they were happy to be taking part in the new integration with Red Box because it allows them to offer their customers a range of additional choices for their voice trading analytics and archiving practices. The Red Box open API philosophy also blends seamlessly with Cloud9'S open API strategy, which makes the partnership a match made in heaven.

Amazon Alexa voice recordings sent into Polish homes

Amazon has admitted it employs temporary workers, sometimes working from home, to transcribe the voice commands of its Alexa virtual assistant.
The acknowledgment follows revelations by the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that workers hired by an agency in Poland were allowed to hear the voice recordings of its German users.Voice Prompts Devices
The disclosure heightens privacy concerns amid the growing popularity of interactive devices that allow users to give voice instructions to make their gadget play music, turn on lights or check the news and weather.Previous revelations have shown how the voice assistants can be triggered unintentionally to record conversations.
Last week, Britain's Guardian reported that contractors working on Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, had heard more than just users' instructions, having listened in to events including people making drug deals and having sex.
Welt's article, meanwhile, revealed how the voice commands given by Alexa's German users are not only heard by Amazon employers but also by agency workers in Poland.
The newspaper reported that contractors, recruited by the agency Randstad, were allowed to work from home or on the road, a practice that potentially opens up users' personal information to be copied or shared without scrutiny.Welt said that while the tech giant had insisted that only trusted staff had access to the recordings, job advertisements by the agency offered workers with strong German language skills the promise of "teleworking throughout the country," after being trained by Amazon at their Gdansk office.
Amazon admitted that audio transcription can be carried out at home but insisted "there are strict security measures and policies that every employee must adhere to." For example, working in public places is prohibited, it said.
One agency worker told Welt it was possible to hear names or places in the voice recordings, which could potentially allow Alexa users to be identified. On Saturday, Amazon announced a new global privacy feature allowing users to explicitly block their voice commands from being reviewed by humans.
Apple and Google also recently suspended human audits of voice assistant recordings following similar concerns.
German and US regulators have begun investigations into the possible violation of privacy by the tech giants.
Although recent cases may give consumers the impression that someone is "listening" to their conversations, it is rarely true. Only a tiny proportion of the voice recordings are ever replayed by the tech giants, who insist the monitoring is only done to improve services.

CES 2019: Samsung Debuts Home Friendly Micro LED Display

In advance of the 2019 CES, Samsung unveiled the latest developments in its modular Micro LED display technology. The company introduced Micro LED technology at the 2018 CES via the debut of its massive 146-inch "The Wall."mobile video advertising truck

This year, Samsung is emphasizing the modularity of the technology, which will allow consumers to customize the size of their home displays. At the 2019 CES, the company is launching a 75-inch (more "home-friendly") version of "The Wall," along with a 219-inch version.

"For decades, Samsung has led the way in next-generation display innovation," "Our Micro LED technology is at the forefront of the next screen revolution with intelligent, customizable displays that excel in every performance category," said said Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

Featuring self-emissive technology and modular capabilities, Samsung's Micro LED displays are made up of individual modules of self-emissive Micro LEDs, featuring millions of inorganic red, green and blue microscopic LED chips that emit their own light to produce colors on screen.

Samsung says it was able to replicate the 4K picture quality in a reduced display size due to technical advances in the ultra-fine pitch semiconductor process that narrows the gap between microscopic LED chips.

By adding Micro LED modules, users can expand their display to any size they desire, the company said. The modular functionality of Micro LED will allow users in the future to create the ultimate display even at irregular 9×3, 1×7 or 5×1 screen sizes that suits their spatial, aesthetic and functional needs.

Samsung's Micro LED technology also optimizes the content no matter the size and shape of the screen. Even when adding more modules, Samsung Micro LED displays can scale to increase the resolution-all while keeping the pixel density constant. Additionally, Micro LED can support everything from the standard 16:9 content, to 21:9 widescreen films, to unconventional aspect ratios like 32:9, or even 1:1-without having to make any compromises in its picture quality.

Since Micro LED displays are bezel-free, there are no borders between modules-even when adding more, according to Samsung. The result is a "seamless, stunning infinity pool effect that allows the display to elegantly blend into any living environment," the company said.

Colorado Springs Police Release Body Camera Footage Of Fatal Shooting

Colorado Springs police released body camera footage from four officers Thursday afternoon of the fatal shooting of De'Von Bailey earlier this month. The graphic video shows police as they approach Bailey, 19, and Lawrence Stoker, Bailey's 19-year-old cousin, on Aug. 3.best vehicle camera recorder

As the first officer approaches the two, Bailey is seen touching his pocket. The officer tells him to keep his hands out of his pockets and explains that police are investigating an armed robbery and looking for two suspects that match their description. Bailey says "Oh, I didn't touch him."

The officer then asks Bailey if he goes by "Spazz." Bailey shakes his head and says, "No, sir."In a stern but calm tone, the officer tells the two to put their hands up and tells them not to reach for their waist. He says police are going to check to see if they have a weapon. A second officer comes up behind the two and approaches Bailey.

As the second officer approaches, Bailey turns his head to the left behind him, then runs. The first officer chases after him and is heard yelling, "Hands up," three times before firing. Eight gunshots go off. Sgt. Alan Van't Land and Officer Blake Evenson fired their guns, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department. The gunshots appear to hit Bailey in the back.

Bailey falls to the ground and then puts his hands up. Officers tell him to get down on the ground and Bailey rolls over on his stomach. In a statement after the release of the video, Bailey's family said they are "devastated at having seen this evidence of the wholly unjustified killing of their beloved family member." The family will hold a wake for De'Von Bailey tonight and his funeral tomorrow. They are requesting privacy from both the public and the media.

Darold Killmer, a lawyer with for the Bailey family said the release of the body camera footage has made it a "crushingly difficult day" for the family.

"The video shows that there was no evidence to support that anybody was imminently at risk of being killed or harmed," Killmer said. "The video shows that he was doing everything within his power in the six or eight or ten steps that he could take to get away to, in fact, get away.... He did not have a weapon in his hand and had not shown any weapon when he was shot in the back."

AT is discontinuing Mobile DVR

After years of development, AT&T is discontinuing what it now calls Mobile DVR on March 4. While some of the enthusiast forums are all abuzz and angry about this move, my guess is that most people didn't even know the feature existed. Before we say goodbye, let's talk about how we got here.hdd mobile dvr

This little box was originally called Nomad. It was developed about a decade ago to help people take their recorded programming with them. The idea was that it would download programs from your DVR, sample them to a manageable size, and put them on your iPhone. You can read the original review I did while working at another site here.

Nomad was problematic because it could take ten hours or more to downsample a movie. Then, it could take another half hour to transfer that movie to your phone. While it was the sort of thing you could do overnight, it wasn't a good fit for everyone. The next generation, renamed to GenieGO, added more speed and more features. In our initial review, we talked about increased speed and the ability to stream programs from your home network. You could set up programs to "Prepare-N-Go" meaning that it could still take several hours to get a movie ready to stream, but it would happen in the background and you could even set something like series links so that commonly watched shows were always ready.

Sadly, GenieGO was discontinued in 2016, but the technology didn't die. It was built into HR44 and HR54 DVRs (and later into Genie 2 servers.)The technology that had originally gone into the GenieGO box was added, via software, to Genie DVRs. You can read our 2016 review here.

Mobile DVR seemed like a really good solution because it could automatically prepare all your recorded shows as needed, so you could stream almost instantly. It also integrated with the regular DIRECTV app so you no longer needed a separate one

However, there were still some concerns. Mobile DVR content was always standard-def quality, whether it was transferred to your device or streamed from home. Some people found that when they wanted a program, they didn't get the one from home. Instead they got the on-demand version from AT&T servers. The picture quality was great, but they lost the ability to skip commercials in some cases.

Minimalist Watch for men: Small and Strong

Minimalist Watch for men: Small and Strong

When one hears "minimalist watch for men," they may think that "minimalist" equals bad. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Society has an odd way of grouping anything that's classified as "small" into thinking it's "bad." This is flatly untrue, particularly when it comes to watches of a minimalist design. While these may not be the biggest watches in terms of size, they can provide a big impact in a different way: elegance and style.classic dial watches

HUGELY ELEGANT: THE MINIMALIST WATCH

The term "minimalist watch" essentially means "watch that has a simple design and nature; watch designed simplistically." That doesn't mean that these watches are "lesser" in any way than any other watch. It simply means that they were built to do one thing and one thing alone: tell the time. That's all they were constructed for. They don't play games, they don't open email, nor do they run apps or anything of the sort - these watches were made for telling time.
That being said, while a minimalist watch only has the one function of telling the time, that's not all these watches are. That's not true by a long shot. What these watches really do is look incredible. Each of them has been finely polished and constructed, so they make the wearer look even better. Beyond simply being a timepiece, each of these watches is the ultimate fashion accessory. They are form following function to another level of class.

The First Impression

You know what it's like when you see someone with an elegant watch on their arm. You know everything you assume about them immediately. It's natural to see anyone who wears one of these watches as classy, successful, confident, better looking, with great taste and style to boot. When making a first impression, few things help as much as a fine watch. Study after study shows that a first impressions stick with people for a long period of time. Imagine how they'll feel about you in this watch.

Essential

That's the key to the style of a watch that's been made with a minimalist design. There's nothing extraneous about the watch. Nothing is out of place. The watch has been (for lack of a better term) stripped down to its most important essentials. What that does is, it has the effect of clearing away everything so that what's best about the watch can shine. With nothing unnecessary to get in the way, the simple beauty of the gorgeous watch takes over.

Fashion Understatement: How to Wear Minimalist Watches

Once on the fringe of the prestige-watch world, minimalist watches are a recent trend that shows no sign of retreating. The most luxurious watch brands create simple yet elegant offerings that can be worn just about anywhere.new design hand watch

There are two very good reasons to invest in a minimalist watch - first as an expression of your personality and sense of aesthetics and second as an investment that appreciates with age. A minimalist watch says you have little to prove while subtly displaying your distinctive taste and style. Sophisticated with a casual side, you spin magic in the digital wonderland by day and help the kids with homework by night. And minimalist watches retain both value and relevance with classic designs that feel contemporary even decades after purchase. That's why luxury brands such as Omega, Rolex and Patek Philippe all include minimalistic watches in their lines.

An uncomplicated yet sophisticated choice for women is the Patek Philippe Ladies' Calatrava. Descended from a line created the 1930s, the watch exudes the same disarming charm and understated elegance that's been a hallmark of the Swiss watchmaker for nearly a century. Wear the Patek Philipp while browsing the farmer's market or at a formal social affair. Employing the same dial style and case as its male counterpart, the Slim d'Hermes L'Heure Impatiente is a newer entry that emulates its classic forbearers. But with a whimsical twist. There's a countdown function with a charming ring that's for the wearer's ears only. Drawing inspiration from Bauhaus minimalism, the Orion from German watchmaker NOMOS Glashütte has a design with contoured glass that is at once contemporary and timeless. Its gentle flowing lines are appropriate from the beach to the boardroom.

For upscale and classic style, it's hard to beat the Junghans Max Bill. Created by the namesake designer, the Max Bill has remained nearly unchanged since its debut in 1961. Minimalist design gives the German timepiece a modern feel with a stainless steel case and understated Milanese strap. A Swiss watch that you can pair with a suit or weekend wear, the Double 8 Origin 87WA154210 exudes relaxed elegance with its deep-blue dial and matching leather band. A relatively fresh face in the Swiss-watch market, 88 Rue De Rhone was founded by the grandson of celebrated Swiss watch pioneer Raymond Weil. Across the Atlantic, Hamilton watches have been crafted in Pennsylvania since 1982. For a multi-use minimalistic piece, check out the Jazzmaster Slim Auto with a sleek black dial, black leather strap and polished stainless steel case that embodies time-honored tradition.
